Welcome to my website. I am a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Economics at City, University of London. My research explores how individuals and firms adjust to globalization. My current work focuses on three overarching themes:
  • Documenting and quantifying the effect of export promotion policies such as subsidies and special economic zones on firm-level export performance, competitiveness  and aggregate welfare
  • Investigating whether globalization increases firms’ real and financial volatility
  • Exploring how trade liberalization and offshoring affect labor market outcomes, such as wage inequality and informality in developing countries
I am a research fellow of CESifo,  and the Nottingham Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP).

Prior to joining City, I was an Associate Professor in Economics at the Nottingham School of Economics. I received my PhD in Economics from Penn State University in 2009 and my B.A. in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.
